Tonight's captures. I tried to get a Piper Vagabond but they were too high for a good photo and missed a Cabin Waco.
Good news is the Taylorcraft got a clean bill of health. So I’m looking forward to some more air time. 😉

Love the pictures of the tri-pacer, a friend of my father’s had one so I got a chance to fly in it several times and I actually grew up with a Piper J-3 that belong to a neighbor and was my dad’s best friend and they actually rebuilt it in our garage that’s where I got my love for airplanes since I was 5 years old. 😁👍🏻
GARYS TIME ZONE the J-3 is one of my all time fun airplanes. It isn’t the best performer especially when compared to the Taylorcraft. Did you know the J-3 and Taylorcraft was designed by the same person, Clarence Gilbert Taylor?
John Chvatal , what are the performance numbers like on a T-craft? “Better than a cub” is a fairly low bar… but I agree, J-3s are a blast to fly.
I see Taylorcrafts for sale on Trade-a-Plane all the time and they are SO pretty and relatively affordable. Not that my wife would let me get one, though. She thinks we’ve gotta have at least four seats. 🙄
Eric Swanger with an identical 65 HP rated engine, the Taylorcraft can get up around 90-95mph in cruise vs about 75mph for the J-3.
John Chvatal Not too shabby, indeed! Thanks for the info!
I should add, the Luscombe and Taylorcraft is at the top performance wise. The Aeronca Champ is in the middle while the J-3 is at the bottom.
